It may not sound particularly overpowered at first, but Long Whip grants you excellent horizontal and vertical movement, and can allow you to blitz safely through entire rooms of hazards, especially when used in conjunction with Wings.
1.0 update sorta killed the vibe for me lots of changes that are worse than in previous versions. I would recommend this if it just rolled back a few updates.
The secrets are highly satisfying to find, and when a guardian is dropping poison bombs or just relentlessly advancing that can feel like it's working against the necessary concentration or experimentation needed to reach them. A lot of the time it can feel easier to just dash on through, ignoring the intricate room design to reach the door to the next one, and the next and the next until finally reaching the exit. Every once in a while, though, Phantom Abyss manages to balance the speed and exploration, and that's when it's at its best.
However, players who deploy it as a pass-the-controller experience at their next party will almost certainly get a lot out of it. This is an excellent game to play with a few friends after a drink or two, with everyone taking a run and passing the controls on when they either die or complete a level. Phantom Abyss is a massive asynchronous multiplayer game that casts players into procedurally-generated temples and tasks them with retrieving the sacred relics hidden within deadly chambers. Intrepid adventurers will dodge scores of hidden traps, leap treacherous chasms, and flee relentless guardians through branching paths until one of the relics are claimed or the devices of death overwhelm them. I’ve been playing Phantom Abyss since it first entered early access and I will not be stopping anytime soon now it’s officially launched. The adrenaline-fuelled gameplay gives me so much joy every time I do a run, whether I’m playing it casually or seriously trying to challenge myself.
Phantom Abyss first dropped towards our eyes at the back end of 2022. At that time it was all about enjoying the Early Access / Game Preview vibes, much like the phenom that is Palworld is doing now. Phantom Abyss requested you to run a gauntlet though, as fast as you could. We descended into Phantom Abyss and quite enjoyed what was on offer.
